Deane have recently completed an open plan kitchen and living space for a client in Denmead, Hampshire.
Open-plan kitchens are becoming more popular than ever before and with the multi-functional nature of the space open-plan is a clear favourite with renovators. In fact so far in 2015 over 54% of UK homeowners who plan a kitchen renovation opt for an open plan layout, incorporating both living and dining facilities.

Our client’s brief was simple. They wanted a large kitchen designed over 2 walls, combining functional storage and integrated appliances with a long right angled island with plentiful seating. The focal point of the room was to be the central island with booth seating.
The client decided to merge both their old kitchen layout with the dining room, while adding a large double storey extension to the back of their house. Working off plan we were able to create a generous open planned kitchen and diner that was the perfect space to relax and entertain family and friends.
Despite the scale and size of the build, we worked together with the client to monitor the overall cost at every stage and were pleasantly surprised to meet the clients expectations in terms of both budget and time-scale.
Using a mix of soft, contrasting colours we were able to achieve a bright and calming look, designed to complement the full length bi-fold sliding doors already in place. In addition we opted to use 2 tone display cabinets which work well with the worktops and base units and draw the eye to all areas of the kitchen.
When discussing the kitchen design with the client we quickly favoured a classic look rather than a high gloss, modern kitchen design. This option lent itself to our English Revival range with in-frame kitchen doors and curved kitchen base units. This was the ideal option as it was the perfect mix of classic design and the functional use of space the client required.
Together with integrated appliances and a double stainless steel fridge and freezer we also used soft lighting to create an illuminated larder cupboard, catering for all the clients baking ingredients and preserves.
